In 2019, HIVE was founded by workplace strategy expert Kathryn Roche to help create thriving and healthy work communities. At its heart, HIVE is a group of design-focused individuals who share an intense curiosity of how working individuals connect and thrive—asking ‘How might we instill a feeling of autonomy, belonging, and trust within the workplace? How do we tactically use physical spaces and technology to enhance a human-centered strategy?’

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated adoption of the hybrid workplace model; but innovative, forward-thinking workplaces have been adopting and experimenting with these models since the early 1970s. Today, technology is no longer a barrier to mobility, and leadership is learning how agility can improve culture and the worker experience. The lockdowns have forced us to quickly adapt and learn the technology necessary to enable the hybrid model. But now we are finding the office purpose is muddy; leaders’ mindsets are not entirely aligned on managing a hybrid workforce, yet their people are anxious for a work model that provides both flexibility and meaningful connections.
